What is it?

The ProBody Method™ is a one-of-a-kind injury prevention and wellness system designed specifically for professionals in physically demanding or static roles from SPMU artists, tattooists, and beauty therapists to desk-based workers and home-based creatives.

Created by Chartered Physiotherapist and Semi Permanent Makeup Artist Kate Illingworth, this method blends expert-led education with real-life movement strategies to help you protect your body, extend your career, and feel better doing what you love.

Whether you stand, sit, lean or twist for a living ,You’re shown how to perfect your craft, but not how to protect the body behind it.

Other courses might tell you what to change your posture, your setup, your tools but they rarely explain why. They don’t give you the clinical insight you need to truly understand how those changes impact your joints, your muscles, your energy levels… and your long-term career health.

The ProBody Method™ bridges that gap.
It teaches you the how but also the why so you can make informed changes that protect your body for years to come.

Using a unique combination of corrective exercises, ergonomic education, and tool-based wellness practices, The ProBody Method™ gives you a practical, transformative framework to:

Prevent and relieve common work-related issues like wrist pain, shoulder fatigue, back strain, and poor posture
Set up your space, tools, and body positioning for maximum comfort and longevity
Train smarter, not harder with short, targeted movements designed for your professional needs
Spot early warning signs of injury and manage them before they escalate
Use recovery tools like rollers, bands, and grips the right way with guided support

This isn’t just a course it’s a complete, reusable support system.
You’ll walk away with a deep understanding of your body, a preventative routine you can stick to, and a toolkit to help you recover and reset no matter what stage you’re at.

Whether you're working hands-on or screen-side, The ProBody Method™ is your blueprint for working smarter, staying stronger, and thriving in your profession for the long run.

I’m Kate Illingworth – founder of The ProBody Method ™, a Chartered Physiotherapist with over 16 years of experience, and a Semi-Permanent Makeup artist of 4 years.

Throughout my physiotherapy career, I’ve specialised in musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy, helping thousands of patients manage and recover from postural issues, spinal conditions, and overuse injuries the exact types of problems so many Beauty Professionals, Tattoo/ SPMU Artists and Desk Based workers suffer from.

When I began working as a semi-permanent makeup artist, I quickly realised how physically demanding the job is. I saw how common it was for SPMU artists and tattooists to experience back pain, neck strain, wrist problems and burnout – yet few had the right tools or knowledge to prevent these issues long-term. I quickly realised this translated into Beauty Professionals and also to the Desk based workers I see far too often in clinic for numerous problems associated with static positions when working and poor education around how and why to look after our bodies when we are working in these kinds of roles.

That’s why I created The ProBody Method™: These courses combine clinical expertise with hands-on industry experience, giving you practical, preventative strategies to support your body, protect your career, and help you keep doing what you love pain-free.

About me

Now Launching: The ProBody Method™: Desk Foundations

We’re excited to introduce the latest course in The Pro Body Method™ series, designed specifically for desk-based professionals.

The ProBody Method™: Desk Foundations is a short, practical taster course created to help you reduce pain, improve posture, and prevent injury from prolonged sitting and screen-based work. It provides an evidence-based introduction to ergonomics, posture, and early injury recognition.

You’ll learn how to optimise your workstation, reduce daily strain, and recognise the early signs of common desk-related issues, giving you immediate, practical changes you can apply straight away.

This course is your starting point. It introduces the core principles and quick wins, while leading into the full ProBody Method™: Desk Edition, which delivers a complete system for long-term injury prevention, structured exercise, and recovery.

The ProBody Method™: Desk Edition

The ProBody Method™: Desk Edition is a comprehensive course designed specifically for professionals working in desk-based roles, where prolonged sitting, screen use, and static postures place continuous strain on the body.

This course delivers a structured, role-specific system focused on the real demands of desk work. It covers workstation setup, screen positioning, sitting mechanics, and movement strategies to reduce load through the spine, shoulders, and wrists throughout the working day.

You will learn how to correct posture in your actual working position, manage screen-related strain, and implement targeted exercises designed to counteract the effects of sitting. It also addresses common desk-related conditions such as neck tension, postural fatigue, and lower back stiffness, with practical strategies to prevent and manage them before they impact performance.

The ProBody Method™: SPMU & Tattoo Artists

The ProBody Method™: SPMU & Tattoo Artists is a specialised course designed for professionals performing detailed, precision-based treatments that require sustained focus, fine motor control, and static positioning.

It is tailored to the unique physical demands of the industry, including prolonged forward posture, repetitive hand movements, and sustained grip. The course focuses on protecting the hands, wrists, and forearms while reducing strain through the neck, shoulders, and upper back.

You will learn how to optimise your working position, client setup, and hand technique to minimise load. It also includes targeted exercises designed for grip strength, joint stability, and muscle endurance, along with guidance on preventing and managing common issues such as wrist pain, tendon irritation, and shoulder tension.

The Pro Body Method™: Beauty Professionals

The ProBody Method™: Beauty Professionals is designed for therapists working in treatment-based roles, where prolonged standing, leaning, and repetitive movements place consistent strain on the body.

This course focuses on the specific demands of beauty treatments, including client positioning, bed height, therapist stance, and movement patterns during treatments such as facials, waxing, massage, and nails.

You will learn how to reduce strain through the lower back, shoulders, and wrists by adjusting how you work in real time. It also includes targeted exercises and recovery strategies to support long working days, alongside guidance on preventing common issues such as back pain, shoulder fatigue, and postural overload.
